We Should Never Compromise

What is compromise?

Compromise, in the context of faith and morals, is not about finding a middle ground. It's about adhering to the unchanging principles and values set by God. In relationships, compromise is important to maintain harmony, but when it comes to our faith, compromising can mean settling for less or deviating from the solid values outlined in Scripture.

We Should Never Compromise with Sin

Many of today's Christians have compromised or watered down their faith so much that sometimes they blend in with the world. Recently, someone mentioned to me that, in certain situations, it's okay to sin because the Holy Spirit knows your intentions, understands what's in your heart, and will forgive you. That's not the way it works. What the Bible calls a sin will always be a sin, and no loophole makes a sin okay under certain circumstances.

Every sin often starts with what seems like a small, harmless compromise. It begins with taking that step just over the line, convincing ourselves that we have it under control. Compromise is sometimes described as a dance of give and take, but when you compromise with sin, it is one-sided, and sin will take everything it can from you.

Once we start compromising, it becomes easier and easier to justify our actions and continue down that path. But the consequences of sin are always more significant than we anticipate. Sin not only breaks our relationship with God, but it also hurts those around us and has ripple effects on our lives. This should instill in us a deep sense of caution and fear, reminding us of the high price of compromise.

When we make a covenant with wickedness, we break our covenant with holiness. Again, when we make a covenant with wickedness, we break our covenant with holiness. It is impossible to remain in a covenant relationship with both.

Matthew 6:24 (KJV)

24) No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

1 John 2:15-17 (KJV)

15) Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

16) For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

17) And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

We Should Never Compromise with Satan

Ephesians 6:12 (KJV)

12) For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

We are in a war against the devil and his army. The devil isn't looking to make friends; his goal is to capture prisoners of war. The devil's arguments often sound good and have a hint of truth in them to trick you into compromising your walk with God.

It is crucial to understand that it is impossible to compromise with Satan. Once you give in a little bit, he will take a lot. He is looking for a tiny crack in your convictions to weaken your righteousness and shake your faith. We should feel the urgency of standing firm in our faith, knowing that any compromise with Satan is a dangerous game we cannot afford to play.

We can't face Satan alone, but if we put on the whole armor of God, we can stand against him.

Ephesians 6:11 (KJV)

11) Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

We Should Never Compromise with Scripture

We compromise with Scripture when we selectively follow it, ignore certain teachings, or interpret it to fit our desires. The Bible is not a buffet where we can pick and choose what to believe and follow. Every verse, from Genesis to Revelation, is essential for our faith and must be accepted without reservation.

Let us never forget that a genuine relationship with God is impossible without following and knowing His Word. We should understand that it is not just a book, but the very foundation of our faith and the key to a deeper relationship with God.

2 Timothy 2:15 (KJV)

15) Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Romans 10:17 (KJV)

17) So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Christ Is Our Example

Jesus never once compromised with sin. He didn't negotiate with the enemy.; He conquered the enemy so we could be free to do the same.

Don't hesitate to defend right and wrong, truth and lies, sin and righteousness. It's not our job to ease biblical boundaries, apologize for them, or manipulate them so people will like them more. We must follow Christ's example of standing firm on the Word and proclaiming it boldly.

Matthew 4:10 (KJV)

10) Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.
